Marie Te Hapuku returns to Sarasota Opera for their Spring Gala Concert, where she will be singing Verdi, Puccini, and Mascagni with the Sarasota Opera Chorus and Symphony.


WINTER 2006


Marie Te Hapuku receives a glowing review for her performance in the VERDI REQUIEM with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.

The Post-Standard writes:
". . .a striking voice - unified in its pleasing color, capable of tremendous range, strong enough to easily soar over the combined sonic mass of the orchestra and chorus, and used with acute intelligence. Her blend with the other soloists was admirable, and her sense of the dramatic in her solos was unerring."

"My first job was a sort-of custodian on Temple Square - where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang. Frederica von Stade came to sing with the choir and since my boss knew I was a singer I was made Frederica’s personal assistant during her visit. She pulled me into her room and started talking about singing, and what I should be doing - I should audition with Lofti Mansouri (General Director at San Francisco Opera), get into the Merola Programme there . . ."
